Travel Sales

The Travel Sales program is based on a framework for developing vocational education programs that calls for the participation of experts from the workplace and the field of education.

The program of study is developed in terms of competencies, expressed as objectives. These objectives are divided into modules. Various factors were kept in mind in developing the program: training needs, the job situation, purposes, goals, and strategies and means used to attain objectives.

The program of study lists the competencies that are the minimum requirements for a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) for students in both the youth and adult sectors. It also provides the basis for organizing courses, planning teaching strategies, and designing instructional and evaluation materials.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Travel Sales program, students must meet the following conditions:

Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent or having earned Secondary V credits in language of instruction and second language in a program of study established by the Minister, or recognition of equivalent learning.

Persons who are at least 16 years of age on 30 September of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned Secondary V credits in language of instruction and second language and Secondary IV credits in mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning.

Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the general development test, as well as Secondary V credits in language of instruction and second language in the programs of study established by the Minister, or recognition of equivalent learning.

Persons having earned Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister and who will continue their general education concurrently with their vocational training in order to obtain the credits they are missing in Secondary V language of instruction and in Secondary IV second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister.
